Supporting Memory & Independence at Home – A Montessori Approach
Date & Time: 3pm, Friday 27th August, 2025
Location: Loveday Belgravia
Speaker: Romy Pikoos, Specialist Occupational Therapist & Founder of MindKeepers
Loveday Belgravia is delighted to host a specialist talk for anyone supporting a loved one experiencing memory or cognitive challenges. This insightful session will be led by Romy Pikoos, a specialist occupational therapist and the founder of MindKeepers, a service dedicated to helping families support relatives experiencing memory or thinking difficulties.
Romy’s approach is grounded in the principles of Montessori, a respectful, practical framework that focuses on what individuals can do, rather than what they can’t. It promotes independence and routine at any stage of cognitive change from mild through to advanced.
In this one-hour taster session, Romy will share simple, effective ways to bring more structure, ease and confidence into your daily role as a carer. Whether you’re supporting a parent, partner or relative, the strategies shared are designed to make life more meaningful, for both you and the person you are caring for.
Topics covered include:
- An introduction to the Montessori approach in memory care
- How to create a home environment that supports memory and routine
- Practical tips to encourage engagement and improve experiences
- Self-care strategies to build your confidence and resilience as a carer
This session is open to all, regardless of your loved one’s stage or diagnosis.
