Exhibiting The Art of Peace: Loveday and Chelsea Pensioners to Showcase Joint Art Exhibition at Chelsea Arts Festival

Loveday is delighted to announce The Art of Peace, a unique and moving art exhibition produced in collaboration with the Royal Hospital Chelsea and iconic department store Peter Jones. Taking place on 20–21 September 2025 in the Sloane Room at Peter Jones, the exhibition forms part of the Chelsea Arts Festival and coincides with both World Peace Day and World Alzheimer’s Day. Admission is free, and all are welcome to experience this powerful celebration of creativity.

A Multi-Sensory Journey into Peace

The Art of Peace is an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Visitors will encounter artworks that embrace all five senses – sight, sound, touch, taste and scent – each exploring different interpretations of peace. From the serenity of inner calm to the clarity of a digital detox, every piece offers a unique perspective on what peace means in today’s world.

This exhibition stands as a reminder that art is not confined to age or circumstance. Many of the featured artists are living with dementia, yet their creativity shines through with astonishing beauty and emotional depth. Their work is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the limitless power of imagination.

Art as Therapeutic Experience

The pieces displayed have been created during weekly art workshops led by Grace Holliday, Loveday’s Artist in Residence. Grace works with both Loveday Members and Chelsea Pensioners, guiding sessions that are as therapeutic as they are creative.

Reflecting on the workshops, Grace shares: “In these sessions, I’ve witnessed moments of pure joy, calm and self-expression that transcend words. The Peace exhibition is a celebration of those moments; each piece a reminder that creativity is limitless, regardless of age or cognitive ability.”

For Loveday Members and Chelsea Pensioners, these sessions provide not only a space for creative exploration but also connection, expression, and a sense of purpose.

A Longstanding Partnership

Loveday has proudly supported the Royal Hospital Chelsea since 2017, donating the art programme to ensure Chelsea Pensioners benefit from the therapeutic and expressive power of creativity. This partnership reflects Loveday’s wider mission: to enrich the lives of its Members while also giving back to the community.

Laurence Geller, CEO of Loveday, explains: “Loveday is not only committed to enriching the lives of our Members but also the wider community. Our long-standing partnership with the Royal Hospital embodies that mission, proving that creativity has no limits. We are delighted to be showcasing these amazing pieces at Peter Jones, who have been championing creativity and community for over a century.”

A Historic Venue for a Powerful Showcase

Peter Jones, located on Sloane Square, has long been a hub of creativity and community. The store’s iconic glass-curtain architecture, sweeping atrium and Grade II listed status make it a fitting backdrop for an exhibition that celebrates both history and innovation.

Faye Mckenzie, Partner & Events & Marketing Coordinator at Peter Jones, adds: “We are honoured to host this special exhibition, giving the public the chance to see not just the art, but the stories and spirit behind each piece.”

Celebrating Peace and Awareness

Exhibiting on World Peace Day and World Alzheimer’s Day (21st September), the exhibition highlights two causes that deeply resonate with Loveday’s values. The artworks speak to the universal longing for peace, while also shining a light on the power of creativity to connect, uplift and inspire people living with dementia.

The Art of Peace is an invitation to pause, reflect and experience art in a unique way.
