Loveday Esher Wins Prestigious Award at the Knight Frank Care Home Awards 2026

Loveday Esher has won the prestigious Knight Frank Care Home Award 2026 in the Care Home Renovation category, presented at the Global Healthcare Property Lunch. This distinguished accolade recognises Loveday’s outstanding achievement in reimagining a historic property into one of the most luxurious and innovative senior living residences in the country.

Nestled within 13 acres of picturesque Surrey countryside, Loveday Esher sets a new benchmark for luxury care. Members enjoy serene nature trails, landscaped gardens which have been maintained for nearly a century, tranquil ponds, kitchen gardens, beehives producing Loveday’s own honey and sunlit outdoor terraces. This abundance of green space provides both beauty and wellness benefits, ensuring that Members remain closely connected to nature while receiving world-class care.

At the heart of the residence lies a magnificently restored 25,000 ft² Grade II listed building. Once the country home of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George, the property has been sensitively refurbished in collaboration with conservation officers and heritage consultants. This careful balance of preservation and innovation has retained original fireplaces, timber panelling and historic cornices while seamlessly integrating modern amenities and sustainable technologies.

The renovation included remarkable engineering feats, such as the installation of a ground source heat pump with 39 boreholesproviding renewable heating without disrupting the historic grounds. Smart building systems, underfloor heating and discreet Lutron lighting ensure energy efficiency and comfort, while accessibility has been enhanced with new lifts and level-access suites. These innovations have allowed Loveday Esher to achieve an exceptional EPC rating of A, a rare accomplishment for a listed building.

The residence offers 37 beautifully appointed suites, each with en-suite wet rooms, alongside exceptional shared facilities. Members enjoy five-star dining, a hydro pool and treadmill, a state-of-the-art gym, beauty and hair salons, treatment rooms, library, tearoom and an inspiring art studio. Loveday Esher delivers outstanding residential, nursing, memory, respite, rehabilitation and Day Club services, with personalised care and meticulous attention to detail.

Speaking about the award, Sian Hammer, Managing Director of Loveday, said:
“We are immensely proud that Loveday Esher has been awarded the Care Home Renovation award in the Knight Frank Care Home Award 2026. This award is a testament to the vision, dedication and expertise of our team who worked tirelessly to restore and reimagine this magnificent property. The full list of luxury care homes, including the winning residences will be published in the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Guide 2026, which celebrates the finest residences across the UK, and Loveday Esher’s inclusion underlines its unique position as a pioneering model for senior living. By blending countryside calm with London sophistication, heritage with innovation and clinical excellence with five-star hospitality, Loveday Esher has redefined senior living.

This award win not only marks a milestone for Loveday but also reflects a wider evolution in senior living – where luxury, wellness and care coexist in perfect harmony.
