Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

Fish & chips and the music of Frank Sinatra marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Observed on 8 May 1945, VE Day marked the end of the Second World War in Europe and remains one of the defining moments of the twentieth century. Across the country, the anniversary has been recognised through commemorative events reflecting on its historical significance.

Within the residence, a traditional lunch accompanied by songs associated with the wartime and post-war years was enjoyed. The combination of familiar music and a classic British menu provided a fitting way to acknowledge the anniversary.
