Donald Locke: Resistant Forms

Donald-Locke-at-Camden-Arts

History, migration and identity were explored through sculpture, painting and installation in a recent visit to Camden Arts Centre, where residents viewed Donald Locke: Resistant Forms.

The exhibition surveyed the work of the British-Guyanese artist across several decades, bringing together pieces that examined colonialism, cultural identity and historical memory through a wide range of materials and forms. Large scale sculptural works sat alongside paintings and installations, reflecting the breadth of Locke’s practice.

Known for his use of assembled materials and ambitious exhibition pieces, Locke developed a distinctive body of work that drew on both personal experience and wider historical themes. The exhibition offered a rare opportunity to view works from different stages of his career within a single setting.

Resistant Forms remains one of the most extensive presentations of Locke’s work to be shown in London in recent years.
