Parkinson’s Care

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological disorder, which is most prevalent in people aged over 50. Parkinson's is caused when nerve cells in the brain become damaged and no longer produce dopamine, a type of neurotransmitter used by the nervous system to send messages between nerve cells, which is necessary to control muscle movement.

The symptoms most commonly associated with Parkinson’s are those that affect mobility, including tremors, rigidity and slowness of movement, but the disease can also affect a person’s automatic responses, such as swallowing and blinking. Other symptoms include pain, sleep disturbance, coordination and balance issues, as well as a range of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

At Loveday, we understand that living with Parkinson’s can be upsetting, stressful and hugely frustrating for both you and your loved one. Our dedicated, compassionate and highly experienced team are on hand to provide 24-hour tailored care, all delivered within our state-of-the-art residences or within your home.

Every experience of Parkinson’s is unique, as no two individuals will display the same symptoms. Therefore, our commitment to providing person-centred care, tailored specifically to each individual, will put your mind at rest that your loved one is in the best possible environment. As Parkinson’s is a progressive disease, when your loved one’s needs change, we will adapt their bespoke care plan accordingly, to ensure that their comfort, happiness and wellbeing is optimised.
