Chelsea Court Place Receives Outstanding CQC Rating

Between 25-27th February 2020, Loveday Chelsea Court Place received its second CQC inspection, which was a planned following from the previous inspection in 2018. We are absolutely delighted to announce that Loveday Chelsea Court Place received an overall rating of OUTSTANDING, securing this score in four out of five categories.

The outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the dedication, hard work, training and high standards continually delivered by our exceptional team. We are so very proud of the attitude and commitment demonstrated on a daily basis, a reflection of the amazing Loveday leadership. We are honoured to be working with such an esteemed team of professionals which includes not only our staff but also our network of doctors, educational partners and suppliers.

When reporting on the home was effective, CQC reported:

The home was exceptionally proactive in supporting people to be in the best possible health. The home ensured people were optimally supported with their ongoing health needs.

The CQC inspectors were particularly impressed with the outstanding food and dining experience with feedback including:
Mealtimes were a sociable and special occasion in the home, promoting the family atmosphere.
The home had a varied and nutritious menu of an exceptional standard, prepared by dedicated and highly skilled staff. The menu had been developed by the home's executive chef with a nutritionist and used fresh, best quality ingredients which were locally sourced where possible. Assessing of the caring service provided by the Loveday team, inspectors found that:
Every member of staff in the home was committed to providing the best possible care and hospitality to the people living there. They were exceptionally attentive to people's needs and always ensured their comfort and wellbeing.
A person told us, "There is nothing that is too much trouble for them."
A relative told us, "The carers are exceptional. Always there with a smile. Always so attentive."

We are very proud of our innovative activities curriculum and delighted that CQC were impressed with the programme, giving the responsive service an outstanding score. Feedback included:

The provider had committed an exceptional level of resources to the home's lifestyle and activities.

People really enjoyed the activities. Activities were a happy, social time and people and staff took part in them together.
A relative told us, "I am particularly impressed by the variety of activities on
offer for the residents. [The activity staff] do a fantastic job and endeavour to include everyone."

A doctor told us, "Another thing that has been really impressive is that care is so personalised, it's extraordinary."

When evaluating whether the service was well-led, Chelsea Court Place received a rating of outstanding. Comments included:

The home achieved particularly good outcomes for people living with dementia. A doctor told us, "The care provided at Chelsea Court Place is the best I have ever seen for dementia patients." People who had been distressed and exhibited behaviour that could challenge when living in other contexts had thrived at the home.

I am immensely proud of our team for their exceptional work and in particular Gabby who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership and management and is so well respected by her team.

I am also very thankful to our partners such as the multi-disciplinary medical team, our food and beverage suppliers, artist-in-residence, fitness instructors, music therapists, singers and performers who all contribute to improving the health and wellbeing of our members. Of course, a huge thank you must go to our incredible members; caring for you is an absolute privilege and to the family members for your ongoing trust and support.

One of the comments was "I feel like I am back home again. This is home to me." This comment really resonated with me as we treasure the warm, friendly, family environment and Chelsea Court Place is somewhere we are all so happy and proud to call home.
