60 Seconds with Tom Jacko, Loveday Club Manager.

Learn what gets him out of bed in the morning!

Name: Tom Jacko

Position: Club Manager at Chelsea Court Place

How long have you worked at Loveday: since July 2022

Where do you live?
I Live in South West London, sharing a flat with my best friend

Hobbies & interests:
I really enjoy listening to different languages, especially through the songs. I love a bit of dance on Saturday night every now and then and love spending time with friends and family. My highlight of the year would definitely be Eurovision. I am just obsessed with it!!

Favourite part of London:
Big Ben and London Eye – every time I pass by it brings back the memories of me moving to London ( in 2012 ). Big Ben was the first place I visited when I moved to London.

Favourite restaurant (in London):
Hard Rock Cafe and of course good old Nandos. Also food from our head chef Alex Morte and his colleagues is incredibly tasty.

Favourite holiday destination:
I am definitely a summer person and therefore I would have to say Cyprus, especially Ayia Napa, where I stayed for 6 months many years ago. I travelled through the country by motorbike and the scenery was amazing, but as I mentioned before I like a bit of party every now and then and Ayia Napa was just made for that purpose! On the other side, I love going back to my country (Slovakia) and spending time with my family there.

Favourite movie:
Definitely STEPMOM with Julia Roberts. I absolutely adore her and basically all of the movies she’s in are incredible with amazing storylines.

Career highlight?
To be honest I have enjoyed all of the jobs I have worked since I started working (restaurants, hotels, care homes and home care). The highest position I ever progressed to is my current position at Loveday Chelsea Court Place – as a Club Manager and this would be my highlight. I believe that, thanks to my previous experience in care, I have a good understanding of working with people living with dementia.

Favourite meal to enjoy with Members?
It would be definitely our highlight of the week – fish and chips Friday with a bit of “Que sera sera” playing in the background!

What music gets you dancing with Members?
Many of our members love ABBA songs and when Dancing Queen starts playing, we all have to start moving then!

Favourite part of job?
I would say it is interaction with our guests, family members and of course our Members. I love making and decorating their coffees.

Favourite activity to do with Members?
I have had the opportunity to work as an activity person a couple of times and I have to say our Members absolutely love quizzes and proverbs and I really like to challenge them with these!

Favourite part of the day?
I like mornings when our Members start coming to the dining area, ready for activities. I can have a chat with them about how their night went and what mischiefs they have been up to after I left work ( hahaha ).

What gets you out of bed in the morning?
It is really difficult for me to get out of bed (every single morning!!!) However, the acknowledgment that someone is relying on my kind of help, that someone is waiting for me to do my job at work and the fact that I will make someone’ s day more beautiful and easier and make a positive impact on their life is the reason I get out of bed and don’t hit the snooze button!!

If you could take Members on a journey anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would first ask where they would they like to go, after all, we are all about curating experiences around our Members! If it were my choice, I would take them to the city they were born, so they could show me the play through their eyes (and also take me to the best places!) Also, I would take them to Tipperary, it is a really long way to go there.

What does good care mean to you?
Good care is individual for each of our Members – however, the most important thing is to make our Members happy. Even if they might not remember our names, they will remember how we make them feel. And if they are happy and comfortable, that is all that matters.
